The plot was located on the south bank of the Yangtze River in Chongqing, directly facing the Raffles Center, designed by Moshe Safdie, as the summit in the future skyline masterplan. The plot with a total area of 21,600m2, planned for twin towers of 300m and 250m in height, respectively, in total 222,900m2 GFA. Adjacent to the site diagonally, a public cultural and art centre was also assigned to the developer to co-design and construct as the additional provisions of land bidding. The cultural amenity held dramatic height differences of over 20m to the nearest point of the plot, which kept descending with the terrain and extended to the river-side public park. My role in this project was to design one of three schemes in the bidding round, collaborating with the structural engineer and registered architects who drew plans. The main challenge was appropriately accommodating the programs aligning to the height difference and other restricted site conditions while generating the visual-oriented form shape.
